4 Week Sprint

Custom AI Model Sprint

A custom AI model, trained for your problem. Yours to own.

Fine-tune a computer-vision or ML model to flag exactly what matters in your data. Runs on your own hardware, offline, no per-call fees.

4 weeks Typically $7,500

Fixed price, set once we scope it over email. A simpler build costs less, a more complex one more.

Off-the-shelf AI APIs cannot see your specific problem: your defects, your parts, your documents, the anomalies only your team knows to look for. And for a lot of teams, sending that data to a cloud API is a non-starter anyway, whether for privacy, cost, or the simple fact that it has to run offline in the field. You need a model trained on your problem that runs on your hardware, and most shops quote a fortune to build one from scratch.

In four weeks you get a working prototype: a model fine-tuned to detect, classify, or flag what matters in your images or data, wrapped in a simple upload, detect, review tool that runs offline on your own machine. It is trained on open, permissively-licensed datasets (or your own data), so the finished tool is fully yours, with no license strings, no per-image fees, and nothing leaving your control. This phase proves the approach on real examples you can validate.

Computer vision runs in production on my own product: Fitly AI classifies every photo a user sends (meal, nutrition label, barcode, equipment) into the right category before the agent acts on it. Same discipline, pointed at your problem. And because the model runs on a standard stack, the Prototype-to-MVP Sprint can harden it for production when you are ready. See a version I scoped for a client.

How it breaks down

What happens

Data & Setup

Assemble licensed data, stand up the training pipeline

Confirm exactly what the model should flag and what a good result looks like. Assemble and prepare permissively-licensed open datasets (or your own data), and stand up the training pipeline on a rented GPU billed to your account at cost.

Fine-Tune

Train the model to your target classes

Fine-tune a proven computer-vision or ML model, using transfer learning from pretrained weights, to detect and classify the specific things that matter to you. This is what keeps a custom model budget-friendly instead of a research project.

Validate

Measure detection on held-out examples, you review

Measure how the model performs on images it has never seen, and put the results in front of you to review. A feasibility demonstration you can trust, not a black box.

Build & Handoff

Wrap it in a tool, package to run offline, hand it over

Wrap the model in a simple upload, flag, review interface. Package it to run offline on your machine with a one-click launcher, and hand over the app, the model, the source code, and a short guide.

Deliverables

What you walk away with

A model fine-tuned to your problem

Trained to detect, classify, or flag the specific things that matter in your images or data. Not a generic API, a model that understands your problem, and it is yours to keep.

A simple review tool

Upload your imagery, the model highlights what it found, and you review and confirm every flag. Runs offline on your own computer, launched with a single click. No command line, no internet.

Clean, licensed training data

Trained only on permissively-licensed open datasets (MIT or CC BY) or your own data, so nothing encumbers your finished tool. I make the licensing calls so your product stays fully yours to commercialize.

The model, the code, and a handoff guide

The trained model, the application, the full source code, and a short guide to run and build on it. Ownership transfers to you. No lock-in, no proprietary platform, no per-use fees.

Also included

  • Runs locally and offline on your own machine: no internet, no per-image fees, data never leaves your control
  • Trained entirely on permissively-licensed (MIT or CC BY) data, or your own
  • Full source code and the trained model, yours on final payment
  • A short handoff guide to run, demo, and extend it
  • A written what-next review: what is working, what is not yet, and where a Phase 2 takes it

Who it's for

This sprint is built for

Inventors and operators who need to detect defects, parts, or anomalies in images that no off-the-shelf API understands

Teams who cannot send data to a cloud AI service for privacy, compliance, or cost reasons

Anything that has to run offline or in the field: inspection, drones, manufacturing, agriculture, energy

Anyone quoted a six-figure price and a year to build a custom vision or ML system

Why this is fast

Agentic AI is the leverage

Transfer learning from pretrained weights means we tune an already-capable model instead of training one from scratch, which is what collapses a research project into a four-week prototype. Agents scaffold the training pipeline and the review app in parallel while I make the model, data, and licensing calls.

What I do vs. what agents do: I choose the model, curate and license the data, own every licensing decision (permissive only, so your tool stays clean to commercialize), and validate the results by hand. Agents handle the pipeline and app scaffolding. Nothing about the model quality is left to chance.

AI stack used in this sprint

PyTorch Proven computer-vision / ML models (permissively licensed) OpenCV ONNX Runtime (fast on-device inference) Rented cloud GPU (your account, at cost)

To get started quickly

What I need from you

  • A clear description of what the model should detect or classify
  • Sample images or data, or agreement to train on public datasets this phase
  • The classes, defects, or patterns that matter to you
  • The computer and operating system it should run on
  • A kickoff email to align on target classes and success criteria

After the sprint

Two paths from here

Hand it off

You walk away with a working model, the tool, and the source code, running offline on your machine. Validate it on your own examples and decide what is next. No retainer, no obligation.

Keep me on

Continue into a Phase 2: fine-tune on your own captured data, add classes, improve accuracy for your exact conditions, and harden it into a production system or wire it into a product.
